Time to relax! Yay!!!!!!

Had the networking on Thurs, the Math on Friday, and they both went pretty well.
At last I can relax and enjoy my break for a bit.
Still have my Operating Systems, and Programming exams in Jan. so I'll still have to do some studying during the break which isn't bad though, I can still relax for a lil while. Yaaaaay! ^_^

Gaye (my sis) and Mustafa (her husband) are coming over tomorrow, which I can't wait! xD Might go out with them and the cousins this week, maybe over to the Pav. later. We'll see. ^_^

Going back to some things I've been wanting to start again.
Learning to play the guitar (I only know three chords so far D= Maybe I could get a friend to help out and teach me a few things, we'll see. xD any of you know how to play the guitar?),
finish reading some books I wasn't able to finish thanks to studying. Try some CS again as well as finish the Fable PC game. Write some pretty overdue blog entries. Hmmm and a few other things basically.
So glad its winter break. =)

Hope you're all having a blast already and are enjoying the break.
Happy Holidays. =D

News for You...this week.

Right soooo this wont be as detailed, almost waaay shorter. These news posts are still a work in progress though soooo any input is welcomed...with a free virtual chocolate chip cookie. ...Thanks...annyyways...here's a list of some news that caught my attention and hopfully you'll be paying more attention to as well:

Protestors in Bangkok want the resignation of the prime minister of Thailand.
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/asiapcf/11/23/thailand.unrest.ap/index.html
What do you guys think of this situation? Should he resign? Why?

In Argentina: An ex-police commander shot himself on friday after being charged and about to be arrested for violating human rights during the military dictatorship which was during the years 1976-83.
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/americas/11/23/argentina.suicide.television.ap/index.html

On sunday shots were fired at the vehicle carrying both presidents of Georgia and Poland. Not sure on who fired the shot, and no one is really admitting to it.
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/11/23/georgia.poland.shooting/index.html
They seem to be taking it quite lightly. D=
Who would you guys think did it?
What do you think about the situation between Georgia and Russia?

An Astronaut on board the International Space Station looses her tool bag. http://edition.cnn.com/2008/TECH/space/11/18/endeavour.spacewalk/index.html
How you ask? She was apparently on a spacewalk (no closet-MJ-fans not moonwalk, we're talking about SPACEWALK.) I suppose its understandable, floating in endless space....earth right infront of you....attatched by a line to the station or somthing...I suppose the tool bag would almost be the last thing on your mind.
So...theres a tool bag...floating off into space. What a way to make a first impression on anyone who happens to find the thing.
Also...if you guys read the article it says that they are planning on installing a "
a recycling system that will convert astronauts' urine and sweat into drinking water"
Wait, whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!?! Did I read that right? I mean-Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!
I'm sorry I mean amazing that you're up there an all, but-Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?!
Ew! D=<

Yahoo is looking to still work with Microsoft, who might actually agree this time to work with them. Considering it's apparently their best bargining chip to get a better footing against Google.
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/BUSINESS/11/06/yahoo.microsoft.google.ap/index.html

Yahoo is also now looking for a new CEO replacement.
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/BUSINESS/11/17/yahoo.yang/index.html
They apparently gave the last one the boot. He'll still be around though, just not in the CEO chair. Hmmmm....if you were the new CEO of Yahoo, what would you do? >.>

Okay thats it for now everyone. Keep your eyes alert for further news posts. Still a work in progress but we'll get there. ^_^ Thanks for tagging along though. *Hands out virtual hot chocolate* & Virtual Cookies handed to those submitting comments.*
heh =D

Hope you all had a great weekend.
Good luck with your classes this week. Hang in there guys! The winter break is near! You've all gotten this far, make it to the rest so you can relax during the break! Good luck! =D

Aaaand another update!

So I had two exams after another yesterday, as well as trying to finish the other assignments. ^_^ College work, busy, busy, busy.
I just got on the committee for the international society as the PRO two weeks ago. Putting up updates on the What's On, and also putting up posters and whatnot. =D I was worried considering the timing that I joined in at but seems to be working out so far. =)

I didn't have time last week to do a news week post, but I'll be trying to post one up for this week tomorrow. ^_^; I doubt a lot of people are reading it or anything, but still sorta fun to do.

Now that I have the two exams and prog. project out of the way, I can spend a lot more time on the translations. Going to get the last batch from steven as well and see how many I can finish translating by this coming monday.

Also need to see how many cisco exams I can get through this weekend as well. >.>;

Well, thats all for this update. Hope you all have a great weekend. =)
Also good luck to all of you who have exams next week.

Website project update - finished a few of the romantic on the main pc at home. Peter offered to do the foreign films while I do the translations. He gave me the westerns today, so I'll be doing the translations for both the romanitc and the westerns tonight. ^_^

Still kind of cold, but a nice day out. =)

News for You...This week.

So, what WAS supposed to be posted up yesterday is being put up today instead. Why you ask? I'll be honest, I fell asleep. D= After the one lab, I went over to the garda in cork city to get my student visa renewed (has to be renewed every year >.<; ) . Coming back home I just....dropped onto my bed and fell asleep. ^-^; Guess it's been a tiring week. Anyways, moving right along, here are the bits of news that managed to catch my attention this week:

-------------------United States Presidential Election. ---------------------------------
It's been an interesting election to be sure people coming up with the weirdest arguments against Obama as well as Mccain. Though there have been some rather funny jokes about the election as well: Everyone should make a rap for their campaign: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cG1g5qvgtSg&feature=related Or come up with their own dancing routines: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlAKnSCRWQM In the end of the election though, Obama won. One of his speeches before the result of the election. It's kind of long, but still an interesting speech: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrp-v2tHaDo His acceptance speech in Chicago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jll5baCAaQU&feature=channel He's a rather charismatic man, who is VERY good at giving speeches. I say congrats. Though, campaign speeches usually can't always be counted on. That's what campaign speeches are, promise many things, then maybe not do anything after winning. I'm hoping that wont be the case with Obama. He's already apologized to Nancy Regan for a careless remark apparently. >.>; uh...yeah.... at least he's careful and doesn't ignore his mistakes so far.
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/11/07/obama.seance/index.html

-California:
Proposition 8 is basically going for a ban of gay marriages in the state.
On the day of the presidential elections, the passage of the constitutional amendment in California passing and thus banning gay marriage.
I find this banning to be rather pointless, especially after an amendment was passed already in May 2008 allowing gay marriages. What's the point of banning them again? You'd think people would have better things to do then to try to stop their gay neighbors from living the way they want to-because god forbid anyone else should be allowed the same rights. Never be surprised by the power of a group consisting of ignorant people. Honestly, ignorant narrow minded people scare me sometimes. >.>;
Thankfully people aren't giving up so easily:
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/US/11/08/same.sex.protests/index.html

Michigan:
Is now allowing for the purchase of marijuana, only for medical use. Becoming the 13th state
to legalize marijuana for medical purposes. This is slowly spreading out to the other states.
Amended the state constitution to allow embryonic stem cell research, except, it's only
allowed with certain restrictions. I would say at least they are allowing it, even with restrictions it's still a good half step forward. ^_^
Nebraska :
Voters approved a move prohibiting the state government from discriminating against or
granting preferential treatment to people on their race, sex, ethnicity, color or origin.
Nice move. Always say no to discrimination. Would you agree? (If you say no and that you're for discriminating....you're allowed your thoughts too...but you're officially an ignorant idiot in my book, no offense. ^_^ )
Washington:
Voters there have approved that an adult with six months or less to live may request lethal medication prescribed by a physician. The physicians don't have to agree to it, but if one does agree, then he/she wont have to worry about criminal prosecution.
I don't really like this rule, in my eyes, it's basically doctors helping someone commit suicide (I'm against the idea of suicide), so I would say no. But what about you guys? Would any of you consider that to be assisting suicide? Even if they have a certain amount of days to live and may be in pain? How would you have voted? Why?

Arizona:
Rejected to overhaul state laws prohibiting the employment of illegal immigrants.
So if you're an illegal immigrant, stay away from Arizona.
Speaking of Arizona, on Friday an eight year old boy is charged for fatally shooting his own father and one other man, with a .22-caliber rifle. Apparently he has no bad record in school nor were there any signs that anything wrong was going on at home. He apparently shot them both, and then went to his neighbors to tell them his father might be dead. His biological mother was in Mississippi at the time, and has flown back.
The little boy is in jail right now, and all I have to say is WOW. Just how did an eight year old get his hands on a .22-caliber rifle to begin with? I had to look it up-but that is a HUGE rifle. D= Under Arizona law, a child eight years old or older can have charges filed against him/her. I don't think an eight year old should have charges against him I think that's still too young an age. At what age is it right to start charging kids for their actions?

CNN reports that Congolese soldiers advance on rebels. Leaders are calling for a cease-fire.
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/africa/11/08/congo.summit.ap/index.html
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/africa/11/08/congo.summit/index.html?iref=mpstoryview
I hope the cease-fire goes through, for the innocent people stuck in between, having to go from one place to another. D=

A school has collapsed in Petionville, near the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince on Friday night.
Many students and teachers were injured, and some are still missing. According to BBC there was about 500 children and teaches, now with at least 107 injured. D=
Pray for the students, teachers and their families. Hope they manage to get to the others under the rubble soon.

Honda has come out with a new walking invention. Basically a walking assistant that consists of a bicycle seat, two mechanical legs that are attached to a pair of shoes. You sit on the seat, and place each foot into a shoe, and just start walking.
I think it's basically made to be useful for those in rehabilitation centers. If you buy them just to have around the house and are in no real need of it, I personally would consider you to be a lazy bum. ^_^

Google Inc. backed out of an advertising partnership with Yahoo. Mainly to avoid the threats by the U.S. Justice Department which would have probably sued Google had they gone ahead with the partnership. So, Yahoo Inc. is trying to make a deal with Microsoft Corp. instead, only Microsoft isn't interested either. Considering Yahoo had already turned down Microsoft's previous offer six months ago, it's not to surprising that Microsoft isn't interested anymore either.
Google drops yahoo: http://money.cnn.com/2008/11/05/technology/google_yahoo.ap/index.htm?postversion=2008110510

Scientists in Japan have created clones of mice that were frozen for sixteen years. Giving hope that in the future they may be able to clone extinct species as well.
So lets say they managed to do just that in just a few years, what species would you like to see walking out and about back on the earth? Just think of it a giant Mammoth just walked by your room window. o.O If that couldn't wake you up early enough for classes I don't know what else could. >.<>

That's about it for this week. Thanks if you actually read through the entire post. =D
This is my first real try at doing a news blog post...sort of thing. >.>; Any feedback would be welcomed. ^_^ Every commenter gets an imaginary cookie.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

US elections.

Woke up early this morning (waaaaay too early >.>;) and what do I find out?

Barack Hussein Obama II has won the election.

Considering America's past history, this is a rather giant step forwards. Have to say that I'm happy about the turn out of the election. Let's also not forget that the Democrats are now more or less in control of all three, the White House, the Senate, and the House of representatives. The following years are going to be interesting.

Quick Edited note- I'm thinking of doing a long post for the blog here every friday....something along the lines of including a bunch of current events that have caught my attention that week. Perhaps also some other things but, for now-okay that's all for now. <.<; You'll most likely see on friday what I've decided on doing. =)

October 29, 1923!

Today marks the 85th anniversary of the foundation of the Turkish Republic!

Bank Holiday Weekend!

My sister came to visit from Dublin this weekend, with her husband, and one of their friends came as well. :)
I was not really in a rush to leave the house and go out at first-happy that I did in the end though. Ended up walking around Cork, visiting a few places, as well as watching some spanish dancing over at the Opera house.
Quite interesting to watch, though it seemed like the men were doing most of the dancing then any of the women. Then again there was only ones dancing seemed to be one lady and two men. The men- back straight, feet firmly stomping to certain beats. The one lady looked like she was just flying all around the place-in a rather elegant manner really. They all stomped their feet firmly onto the ground, backs stiff and straight, but their arms and hands-just the movements. Flowing through the air in graceful manners-totally opposite to their feet.
My favorite part of the entire show was when the head guitarist was sitting on his own in the middle of the stage and just went through one solo after another. Have to say, the music took more of my breath away then any of the dancing did. Still very good though, would love to go again if they're around next year.

The weekend was quite fun actually, great chance to destress and just enjoy everyone's company. Week's starting though, so its back to business as usual on Tuesday.

Essay Topic

Had a talk with Prof. Colin Manning about the essay topics available last class. Finally chose my essay topic for this class to be, "Blogging", both non-technical as well as technical information involved. A few new aspects to blogging have caught my attention, so planning on including them as well.

Bad Website

I decided on a website that I really didn't really like.
http://www.milliyet.com.tr
It's actually a good turkish newspaper's website, the layout of the entire thing however is really too distracting. Ton's of pictures everywhere, flashy writing, and all information for that month seem's to be just crammed onto the first page. Looking for any specific type of news would be close to trying to find a needle in a haystack.
